Help this[edit]

This page reads like a promotional brochure not an encyclopedia. Could someone with knowledge of what commerce and industry really means, rewrite this more objectively. Also, the tourism section is bad with motel/restaurant listings and sites that are not even in Marion. The article is about the city not all around it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chadew (talkcontribs) 17:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Commerce and Industry[edit]

This section is pulled verbatim from www.wctb.org (Williamson County Tourism Board) and doesn't sound very objective.

"Metro" Population[edit]

Marion doesn't meet the requirements for being a MSA, nor is it one. I don't understand the listing of what appears to be a pretty arbitrary "metro" population.

I'd have thought that Marion might be a county seat, but still a suburb of Carbondale. Just guessing. Never been to southern Illinois. 68.107.8.147 (talk) 01:43, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Historic Tornado[edit]

I'm questioning the 50-500 million dollar damage estimate. I live in this town and this figure confuses me, questioning the source of that wide estimate range.

General Dynamics & the CONWR should be mentioned here somehow... they're closer and more relevant than the Prison to Marion... http://www.fws.gov I believe has information about CONWR, and General dynamics has it's own site.
