ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Vejvančický. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Can I retrieve my page?[edit]

You deleted my page and I wondered if I could get the contents back to edit it up

Jackson.horton (talk) 17:59, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Jackson.horton: most of the content is at your user page. Please don't insert nonsense to Wikipedia mainspace. Thanks for your understanding. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:48, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – February 2018[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2018).

Administrator changes

added None
removed BlurpeaceDana boomerDeltabeignetDenelson83GrandioseSalvidrim!Ymblanter

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
  • Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.

Technical news

  • A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.

a favor[edit]

Hi - I hope you don't mind if I ask your assistance as I noticed you were a native Czech speaker. I have a very limited knowledge of Czech and was, therefore, hoping you might confirm the accuracy of a direct quote I added to Jaroslav Eminger. I translated part of this source [1] into the article as "loyal Bohemian and a brave man". Is that translation correct / accurate? Thanks, in advance. Chetsford (talk) 06:14, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi Chetsford, yes "loyal Bohemian and a brave man" is correct. The article on Czech Radio says that his "secluded retirement" (and rest of his life spend in "existential problems") was caused mainly due to the attitude of the Czechoslovak Army after the Victorious February. New communist rulers did not rehabilitate the Protectorate Army or its commanders. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 10:24, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks very much! Chetsford (talk) 10:34, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – March 2018[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2018).

Administrator changes

added Lourdesdagger
removed AngelOfSadnessBhadaniChris 73CorenFridayMidomMike V
dagger Lourdes has requested that her admin rights be temporarily removed, pending her return from travel.

Guideline and policy news

  • The autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) is scheduled to end on 14 March 2018. The results of the research collected can be read on Meta Wiki.
  • Community ban discussions must now stay open for at least 24 hours prior to being closed.
  • A change to the administrator inactivity policy has been proposed. Under the proposal, if an administrator has not used their admin tools for a period of five years and is subsequently desysopped for inactivity, the administrator would have to file a new RfA in order to regain the tools.
  • A change to the banning policy has been proposed which would specify conditions under which a repeat sockmaster may be considered de facto banned, reducing the need to start a community ban discussion for these users.

Technical news

  • CheckUsers are now able to view private data such as IP addresses from the edit filter log, e.g. when the filter prevents a user from creating an account. Previously, this information was unavailable to CheckUsers because access to it could not be logged.
  • The edit filter has a new feature contains_all that edit filter managers may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string.

  • Bhadani (Gangadhar Bhadani) passed away on 8 February 2018. Bhadani joined Wikipedia in March 2005 and became an administrator in September 2005. While he was active, Bhadani was regarded as one of the most prolific Wikipedians from India.

Precious four years![edit]

Four years!

--Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:25, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind notice, Gerda. A while ago I've noticed it's ten years since I joined WP with a regular account ... it's a big part of my life. Anyway, I'm less active today, as I became father and I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with my family. I also spend more time outside of our house, planting vineyards and trees, making wines and learning more about the nature generally, which is another love of my life, I guess. ...But I still love inspirative and never-ending work here :) Take care Gerda. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:11, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for sharing, and congratulations to being a parent and plant grower, - more lively than the music we plant here. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:37, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Neutral notice[edit]

A move request regarding / Deadline Hollywood, an article you have edited, is taking place at Talk:Deadline Hollywood#Requested move 11 March 2018. It is scheduled to end in seven days. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:04, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

I made one tiny edit to the article when it was created and I don't feel competent to comment in this matter. Sorry. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:46, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
